Coconut cream dessert

Posted on December 27, 2025 by Danish Kaleem

This Coconut Cream Dessert is a luscious, creamy treat with a tropical flavor. Smooth, velvety, and lightly sweet, it’s perfect as a light dessert, festive treat, or after-dinner indulgence. You can serve it chilled in bowls, glasses, or even as a layered dessert.

Ingredients (Serves 4–6)

  • 1 can (400 ml) coconut milk or coconut cream

  • 1 cup heavy cream or whipping cream

  • ½ cup sugar (adjust to taste)

  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch (for thickening)

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • Optional toppings: toasted coconut, fresh fruit, chocolate shavings, or nuts

Instructions

1. Prepare Coconut Cream Base

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine coconut milk, sugar, and salt.

  2. Heat over medium flame until it starts to warm (do not boil).

2. Thicken with Cornstarch

  1. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with 2–3 tablespoons of cold coconut milk or cream to make a smooth slurry.

  2. Gradually whisk slurry into the warm coconut milk mixture.

  3. Stir constantly until the mixture thickens to a pudding-like consistency (5–7 minutes).

3. Add Cream & Flavor

  1. Remove from heat.

  2. Stir in vanilla extract and heavy cream for extra richness.

  3. Mix until fully combined.

4. Chill the Dessert

  1. Pour the mixture into serving bowls or glasses.

  2. Let it cool slightly, then refrigerate for 2–3 hours until fully set.

5. Serve

  • Garnish with toasted coconut, fresh fruit slices, or nuts.

  • Serve chilled for a refreshing, tropical dessert.

Tips for Perfect Coconut Cream Dessert

  • Use full-fat coconut milk or cream for the creamiest texture.

  • Stir constantly when thickening to avoid lumps.

  • Optional: For a vegan version, skip heavy cream and increase coconut cream slightly.

  • Add a few drops of almond extract for a subtle nutty flavor.

Variations

  • Chocolate Coconut Cream: Add 2 tablespoons cocoa powder with sugar.

  • Mango Coconut Cream: Fold in mango puree after cooling.

  • Layered Dessert: Alternate layers of coconut cream with fruit puree or sponge cake.

This Coconut Cream Dessert is simple, luxurious, and naturally tropical. It’s light enough for everyday enjoyment yet elegant enough for special occasions.
