Country apple fritter bread

Posted on August 30, 2025August 30, 2025 by Rana Arsalan

Here’s a detailed Country Apple Fritter Bread recipe that gives you everything ingredients, directions, how to shape it, and baking temperature. It’s a moist, cinnamon-spiced quick bread filled and topped with apples and a sweet glaze. Think of it like an apple fritter doughnut turned into a comforting loaf of bread.

🍎 Country Apple Fritter Bread Recipe

✅ Ingredients

For the Cinnamon Apple Mixture:

  • 2 large apples (peeled and diced small, about 2 cups) – Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work best

  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 2 tbsp light brown sugar

For the Bread Batter:

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened

  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 3/4 tsp baking powder

  • 1/2 cup whole milk

For the Cinnamon Sugar Swirl:

  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

For the Glaze (optional but recommended):

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

  • 1–2 tbsp milk or cream

  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

👩‍🍳 Directions

Step 1: Prep the Apples

  1. Peel and chop apples into small 1/2-inch cubes.

  2. In a bowl, toss them with 2 tbsp brown sugar and 2 tsp cinnamon. Set aside.

Step 2: Make the Batter

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Grease and line a 9×5 inch loaf pan with parchment paper.

  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and granulated sugar until fluffy.

  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well.

  5. Stir in vanilla.

  6. In a separate bowl, whisk flour and baking powder.

  7. Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture alternately with the milk — starting and ending with flour.

Step 3: Layer the Bread

  1. Spoon half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it evenly.

  2. Add half of the apple mixture on top.

  3. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar swirl mixture.

  4. Add the rest of the batter on top.

  5. Then top with the remaining apples and cinnamon-sugar.

  6. Gently swirl with a butter knife (just a little!) for a marbled effect — don’t overmix.

🔥 Baking Temperature and Time

  • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 55 to 60 minutes.

  • Check doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center — it should come out clean (or with a few moist crumbs, not batter).

  • If the top starts to brown too quickly, tent with foil during the last 15 minutes.

🧊 Cooling and Glazing

  1. Cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes.

  2. Transfer to a wire rack and cool completely.

  3. Whisk together the glaze ingredients and drizzle over the cooled loaf.

🍞 Shaping the Bread

This is a quick bread, so you don’t shape it like yeast bread. You just layer the batter and apple filling in a loaf pan — the “shape” comes from how it’s baked in the pan. The swirl adds visual appeal and texture inside when sliced.

💡 Tips

  • Make sure apples are finely chopped so they soften nicely during baking.

  • Try adding chopped nuts (like pecans or walnuts) for extra crunch.

  • Great served warm with butter or ice cream!
