Steak and Broccoli Recipe
Ingredients
For the Steak
- 1 lb (500 g) beef steak (sirloin or flank), thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 1 tsp minced ginger
- 1 tbsp cooking oil
For the Broccoli
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- Water for boiling
- A pinch of salt
For the Sauce
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional but recommended)
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- ½ cup water or beef broth
- 1 tbsp cooking oil
Directions
Step 1: Marinate the Steak
In a bowl, combine steak slices with soy sauce, cornstarch, garlic, and ginger.
Mix well and let it marinate for 10–15 minutes.
Step 2: Prepare the Broccoli
Bring water to a boil with a pinch of salt.
Boil broccoli for 2–3 minutes until bright green and slightly tender.
Drain and set aside.
Step 3: Make the Sauce
In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, and water until smooth.
Step 4: Cook the Steak
Heat oil in a large pan or wok over high heat.
Add the steak and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until browned.
Remove from the pan and set aside.
Step 5: Combine and Finish
In the same pan, add a little more oil if needed.
Add broccoli and stir-fry for 1 minute.
Return steak to the pan, pour in the sauce, and toss everything together.
Cook for 1–2 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the steak and broccoli.
Serving Suggestions
- Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles
- Garnish with sesame seeds or green onions if desired
