Creamy Paprika Steak Shells are a delicious combination of tender steak pieces, large pasta shells, and a rich, creamy paprika sauce. Perfect for a hearty weeknight dinner or a special meal that’s full of flavor.

Ingredients (Serves 4)

For the Pasta

  • 12–16 large pasta shells

  • Salt, for boiling water

For the Steak & Sauce

  • 1 lb (450 g) steak (sirloin, ribeye, or tenderloin), cut into bite-sized strips

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter

  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

  • 1 teaspoon sweet paprika

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • ½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

  • 1 cup heavy cream or half-and-half

  • ½ cup beef or chicken broth

  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

1. Cook the Pasta

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.

  2. Cook pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente.

  3. Drain and set aside.

2. Cook the Steak

  1. Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  2. Add steak pieces and sear until browned on all sides (about 3–4 minutes).

  3. Remove steak from skillet and set aside.

3. Make the Creamy Paprika Sauce

  1. In the same skillet, sauté onions until soft and translucent.

  2. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

  3. Stir in smoked paprika, sweet paprika, salt, and pepper.

  4. Pour in heavy cream and broth, stirring to combine.

  5. Simmer for 3–5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

  6. Optional: Stir in Parmesan cheese for extra creaminess and flavor.

4. Combine Steak and Pasta

  1. Add cooked steak back into the sauce and stir to coat.

  2. Gently fold in the cooked pasta shells, ensuring they are fully coated in the creamy paprika sauce.

5. Serve

  • Serve immediately, garnished with chopped fresh parsley.

  • Optional: Sprinkle additional Parmesan cheese on top.

Tips for Perfect Creamy Paprika Steak Shells

  • Use high-quality steak for the best flavor and tenderness.

  • Don’t overcook the steak; it should remain juicy.

  • Adjust paprika according to your taste; smoked paprika adds depth, sweet paprika adds mild sweetness.

  • For extra flavor, add a splash of white wine or brandy when making the sauce.

Variations

  • Mushroom Paprika Shells: Add sautéed mushrooms to the sauce for an earthy flavor.

  • Spicy Version: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red chili flakes.

  • Cheesy Version: Mix in shredded mozzarella or Gruyère for a gooey finish.

  • Vegetable Boost: Add spinach, bell peppers, or peas for extra nutrition.

These Creamy Paprika Steak Shells are rich, flavorful, and comforting, making them a perfect weeknight dinner that feels indulgent and special.
