Garlic and Honey Remedy (Traditional Wellness Recipe)
Many people have traditionally used a mixture of raw garlic and honey as part of their wellness routine. Garlic contains natural compounds such as allicin, while honey contains antioxidants. Although some studies suggest these ingredients may have health benefits, there is no reliable evidence that taking them for 7 days will cure diseases or dramatically improve health.
Ingredients
- 1 fresh garlic clove
- 1 tablespoon raw honey (preferably organic or unprocessed)
Directions
- Peel one fresh garlic clove.
- Crush or finely chop the garlic.
- Let it sit for 10 minutes. This helps form allicin, one of garlic’s active compounds.
- Mix the garlic with 1 tablespoon of raw honey.
- Eat the mixture on an empty stomach in the morning.
- Wait about 20–30 minutes before eating breakfast.
How Long to Use
- Take once daily for up to 7 days.
- If you experience stomach irritation, stop using it or take it with food instead.
Potential Benefits
This remedy may:
- Support normal immune function
- Provide antioxidants
- Help soothe a mild sore throat (mainly from the honey)
- Be a simple addition to a balanced diet
Important Precautions
- Avoid this remedy if you are allergic to garlic or honey.
- Garlic can increase the risk of bleeding, especially if you take blood-thinning medications (such as warfarin, apixaban, or clopidogrel). Speak with your healthcare provider before using it regularly.
- People with acid reflux, stomach ulcers, or sensitive stomachs may find that raw garlic worsens their symptoms.
- Do not give honey to infants under 12 months of age because of the risk of infant botulism.
