Posted on December 31, 2025December 31, 2025 by Danish Kaleem

Here’s a LongHorn Steakhouse recipe guide so you can recreate their signature dishes at home. I’ll focus on their most popular steak: the Outlaw Ribeye with a classic LongHorn-style seasoning and a side of their famous Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Seasoned Vegetables.

LongHorn Outlaw Ribeye Recipe

Servings

2–4

Ingredients

For the Steak

  • Ribeye steak – 2 steaks, 10–12 oz each, 1–1.5 inches thick

  • Olive oil – 2 tablespoons

  • Salt – 1 teaspoon

  • Black pepper – 1 teaspoon

  • Garlic powder – 1 teaspoon

  • Onion powder – 1 teaspoon

  • Paprika – 1 teaspoon

  • Cayenne pepper – ¼ teaspoon (optional for heat)

For Garlic Mashed Potatoes

  • Potatoes – 4 medium, peeled and cubed

  • Butter – 3 tablespoons

  • Garlic – 2 cloves, minced

  • Milk – ½ cup, warm

  • Salt – ½ teaspoon

  • Pepper – ¼ teaspoon

For Seasoned Vegetables

  • Broccoli florets – 1 cup

  • Carrot slices – 1 cup

  • Olive oil – 1 tablespoon

  • Salt – ¼ teaspoon

  • Black pepper – ¼ teaspoon

Directions

Step 1: Prepare the Steak

  1. Pat ribeye steaks dry with paper towels.

  2. In a small bowl, mix salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne.

  3. Rub olive oil on both sides of the steaks, then coat with seasoning.

  4. Let steaks rest at room temperature for 15–20 minutes.

Step 2: Cook the Steak

Pan-Seared Method:

  1. Heat a cast-iron skillet over high heat until very hot.

  2. Sear steaks 3–4 minutes per side for medium-rare (adjust time for desired doneness).

  3. Reduce heat to medium, and cook 1–2 more minutes per side if needed.

  4. Remove steaks and let rest 5–10 minutes before slicing.

Optional Oven-Finish Method:

  • After searing, place skillet in preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 5–10 minutes until desired doneness.

Step 3: Make Garlic Mashed Potatoes

  1. Boil potatoes in salted water until tender (15–20 minutes).

  2. Drain and mash with butter and minced garlic.

  3. Gradually add warm milk until creamy.

  4. Season with salt and pepper. Keep warm.

Step 4: Prepare Seasoned Vegetables

  1. Steam broccoli and carrots until tender-crisp (5–6 minutes).

  2. Toss with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Serve warm.

Step 5: Assemble Platter

  • Slice the ribeye against the grain.

  • Serve with a scoop of garlic mashed potatoes and seasoned vegetables.

  • Optional: Drizzle melted butter over the steak for extra flavor.

Tips for Best Results

  • Room Temperature Steak: Ensures even cooking.

  • High Heat Sear: Locks in juices and gives a nice crust.

  • Resting Meat: Keeps it tender and juicy.

  • Customize Heat: Adjust cayenne in the seasoning to your preference.

  • Optional Sauce: Serve with a simple pan sauce of beef stock, butter, and garlic.

Variations

  • Wild West Shrimp Side: Sauté shrimp in butter, garlic, and paprika for a LongHorn-inspired appetizer.

  • Ribeye Marinade: Marinate steaks in Worcestershire sauce, garlic, and olive oil for 1–2 hours for extra flavor.

  • Cheesy Mashed Potatoes: Add shredded cheddar or parmesan to the mashed potatoes.
