Savory Crab Stuffed Mushrooms

Ingredients

For the Mushrooms

  • 20 large white or cremini mushrooms

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • Salt and black pepper (to taste)

For the Crab Filling

  • 1 cup cooked crab meat (fresh or canned, well drained)

  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened)

  • ¼ cup mayonnaise

  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella or parmesan cheese

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)

  • 2 tbsp finely chopped onion or shallot

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley (chopped)

  • ½ tsp paprika or Old Bay seasoning

  • Salt & black pepper (to taste)

Topping

  • ¼ cup breadcrumbs or panko

  • 2 tbsp melted butter

  • Extra parsley for garnish


Directions

  1. Prepare the Mushrooms
    Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
    Clean mushrooms with a damp cloth. Remove stems and set caps aside. Finely chop the stems.

  2. Cook the Filling Base
    In a pan, melt butter over medium heat.
    Add chopped mushroom stems, onion, and garlic.
    Sauté for 3–4 minutes until soft and fragrant.

  3. Make the Filling
    In a bowl, mix cream cheese, mayonnaise, shredded cheese, lemon juice, paprika, salt, and pepper.
    Add sautéed mixture and gently fold in crab meat and parsley. Do not overmix to keep crab chunks intact.

  4. Stuff the Mushrooms
    Brush mushroom caps lightly with olive oil and season with salt.
    Spoon the crab mixture generously into each cap.

  5. Add Topping
    Mix breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over each stuffed mushroom.

  6. Bake
    Arrange mushrooms on a baking tray.
    Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until tops are golden and mushrooms are tender.

  7. Garnish & Serve
    Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve warm.


Tips for Best Flavor

  • Use fresh crab if possible for sweeter taste

  • Don’t wash mushrooms under running water

  • A squeeze of lemon at the end brightens the dish
