🛒 Ingredients

For the Chicken

  • 1½ lb boneless chicken thighs or breasts, bite-size pieces
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Oil for frying

For the Honey Garlic Sauce

  • ⅓ cup honey
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated (optional)
  • ½ tsp chili flakes (optional)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (slurry)
  • 1 tbsp butter or sesame oil

👩‍🍳 Directions

Step 1: Prep the Chicken

  1. Season chicken with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  2. Dip each piece in egg, then coat generously in cornstarch.
  3. Shake off excess.

Step 2: Fry Until Crispy

  1. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Fry chicken in batches for 4–5 minutes, until golden and crispy.
  3. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Step 3: Make the Honey Garlic Sauce

  1. In a pan over medium heat, add butter.
  2. Sauté garlic (and ginger) for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add honey, soy sauce, vinegar, and chili flakes.
  4. Bring to a gentle simmer.
  5. Stir in cornstarch slurry and cook until thick and glossy.

Step 4: Toss & Serve

  • Add crispy chicken to the sauce.
  • Toss quickly to coat evenly.
  • Serve immediately.
