Baked Apple Fritters

Posted on December 27, 2025 by Danish Kaleem

Baked Apple Fritters are a healthier take on classic fried fritters. Soft, tender apple pieces coated in a lightly spiced batter and baked to golden perfection, then drizzled with a sweet glaze. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert.

Ingredients (Makes 12–14 fritters)

For the Fritters

  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • 1 large egg

  • ½ cup milk

  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Glaze

  • ½ cup powdered sugar

  • 1–2 tablespoons milk

  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Preheat Oven

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Prepare the Batter

  1. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.

  2. In another bowl, whisk egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.

  3. Combine wet and dry ingredients, stirring until smooth.

  4. Fold in diced apples.

3. Shape & Bake

  1. Drop spoonfuls of batter onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

  2. Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until fritters are golden and set.

  3. Remove from oven and let cool slightly.

4. Prepare the Glaze

  1. In a small bowl, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.

  2. Drizzle glaze over warm fritters.

5. Serve

  • Serve warm for the best flavor and texture.

  • Optional: sprinkle with additional cinnamon or chopped nuts.

Tips for Perfect Baked Apple Fritters

  • Use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp to maintain texture.

  • Don’t overmix the batter; keep it slightly lumpy for tender fritters.

  • Space fritters evenly on the baking sheet to prevent sticking.

  • For extra indulgence, drizzle with caramel sauce instead of glaze.

Variations

  • Cinnamon Sugar Fritters: Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar instead of glazing.

  • Apple & Walnut: Add chopped walnuts for crunch.

  • Mini Fritters: Use a teaspoon to make bite-sized fritters for parties.

  • Caramel Apple Fritters: Top with warm caramel sauce and a pinch of sea salt.

These Baked Apple Fritters are soft, sweet, and full of apple flavor, offering a delightful, healthier twist on a classic favorite.
