Cheesy loaded fries

Posted on December 27, 2025 by Danish Kaleem

Cheesy Loaded Fries are the ultimate comfort snack—crispy fries topped with melted cheese, savory toppings, and optional extras like bacon, jalapeños, or herbs. Perfect as a party appetizer, movie night snack, or indulgent side dish.

Ingredients (Serves 2–4)

  • 4 cups frozen or homemade French fries

  • 1–1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite melting cheese)

  • 4–5 strips cooked bacon, crumbled (optional)

  • 2 green onions, chopped

  • 2 tablespoons sour cream (optional)

  • 1–2 tablespoons melted butter (optional)

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • Optional toppings: jalapeños, diced tomatoes, olives, or hot sauce

Instructions

1. Prepare the Fries

  • Oven Method: Bake frozen fries according to package instructions until crispy.

  • Homemade Fries: Cut potatoes into sticks, toss with a little oil, salt, and pepper, and bake at 425°F (220°C) for 25–30 minutes until golden and crisp.

2. Add Cheese and Toppings

  1. Spread baked fries on an oven-safe dish or baking sheet.

  2. Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the fries.

  3. Add crumbled bacon or other toppings if desired.

  4. Place under the broiler for 2–4 minutes until cheese melts and bubbles.

3. Garnish and Serve

  1. Remove from oven and sprinkle with chopped green onions.

  2. Drizzle with sour cream or melted butter if desired.

  3. Serve immediately while hot and gooey.

Tips for Perfect Cheesy Loaded Fries

  • Use crispy fries for best results; soggy fries won’t hold toppings well.

  • Layer cheese generously for a gooey effect.

  • Add toppings after broiling if they cook quickly (e.g., fresh herbs, jalapeños).

  • For extra flavor, season fries with garlic powder, smoked paprika, or chili powder before baking.

Variations

  • Tex-Mex Loaded Fries: Add black beans, corn, jalapeños, and salsa.

  • Buffalo Chicken Fries: Top with shredded cooked chicken and buffalo sauce.

  • Vegetarian: Use sautéed mushrooms, bell peppers, and onions.

  • Four-Cheese Fries: Mix cheddar, mozzarella, parmesan, and gouda.

These Cheesy Loaded Fries are crispy, gooey, and irresistible, perfect for sharing with friends or enjoying as a satisfying snack.
