Garlic bread

Posted on January 24, 2026 by Rana Arsalan

Let’s make some delicious garlic bread. I’ll give you a simple, classic recipe that’s crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and packed with garlic flavor.

Ingredients (for 1 loaf / 6–8 servings)

  • 1 French baguette or Italian bread loaf
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3–4 cloves garlic, minced (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for cheesy garlic bread)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven
    Preheat to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the garlic butter
In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper (and Parmesan if using).
  3. Slice the bread
    • Option 1: Cut the loaf in half lengthwise.
    • Option 2: Slice into thick diagonal pieces, leaving the bottom slightly attached if you want pull-apart style.
  4. Spread the garlic butter
Generously spread the garlic butter mixture on the cut sides of the bread.
  5. Bake
    • Place on a baking sheet, buttered side up.
    • Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the butter is melted and the edges start to turn golden.
  6. Optional extra crispiness
    • Turn on the broiler for 1–2 minutes, keeping a close eye, until the top is golden and slightly crispy.
  7. Serve hot
Slice if you haven’t already, and enjoy immediately!

💡 Tips for next-level garlic bread:

  • Mix a little olive oil with the butter for a richer flavor.
  • Add red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
  • Use fresh herbs like thyme or oregano for an Italian twist.
