Garlic Butter Lobster and Scallops

⏱ Prep Time:

15 minutes

⏱ Cook Time:

15–20 minutes

🍽 Serves:

2–3 people

🧄 Ingredients

For the Seafood:

  • 2 lobster tails (fresh or frozen, thawed)

  • 300 g sea scallops (about 10–12 large scallops)

  • Salt, to taste

  • Black pepper, to taste

  • Paprika – ½ teaspoon

  • Lemon juice – 1 tablespoon

For the Garlic Butter Sauce:

  • Unsalted butter – 6 tablespoons

  • Olive oil – 1 tablespoon

  • Garlic – 5–6 cloves, finely minced

  • Fresh parsley – 2 tablespoons, finely chopped

  • Red chili flakes – ¼ teaspoon (optional)

  • Lemon zest – ½ teaspoon

Optional Garnish:

  • Lemon wedges

  • Extra parsley

  • Parmesan cheese (light sprinkle, optional)

🦞 Step-by-Step Directions

Step 1: Prepare the Lobster Tails

  1. Using kitchen scissors, carefully cut through the top shell of each lobster tail lengthwise.

  2. Gently pull the shell apart and lift the lobster meat, placing it on top of the shell (keep it attached at the base).

  3. Pat the meat dry with paper towels.

  4. Season with salt, black pepper, paprika, and a few drops of lemon juice.

  5. Set aside.

Step 2: Prepare the Scallops

  1. Rinse scallops quickly under cold water if needed.

  2. Pat them completely dry (this step is very important for proper searing).

  3. Season lightly with salt and black pepper.

  4. Set aside at room temperature for 5 minutes.

Step 3: Make the Garlic Butter Base

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat.

  2. Add olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter.

  3. Once melted, add minced garlic.

  4. Sauté for 30–40 seconds until fragrant (do not brown the garlic).

  5. Add chili flakes (if using) and lemon zest.

Step 4: Cook the Lobster

  1. Place the lobster tails meat-side up in the skillet.

  2. Spoon some garlic butter over the lobster meat.

  3. Cover the skillet and cook for 5–7 minutes, basting occasionally.

  4. Lobster is done when the meat turns opaque and white.

  5. Remove lobster tails from the skillet and keep warm.

Step 5: Sear the Scallops

  1. In the same skillet, increase heat to medium-high.

  2. Add 1 tablespoon butter.

  3. Place scallops in the pan, leaving space between each.

  4. Sear for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.

  5. Do not move scallops while cooking to achieve a perfect crust.

  6. Remove scallops once cooked.

Step 6: Finish the Garlic Butter Sauce

  1. Lower heat to medium-low.

  2. Add remaining butter and stir gently.

  3. Add chopped parsley and lemon juice.

  4. Taste and adjust salt if needed.

Step 7: Combine and Serve

  1. Return lobster and scallops to the skillet.

  2. Spoon garlic butter sauce generously over seafood.

  3. Cook together for 1–2 minutes for flavors to combine.

  4. Turn off heat.
