Great! Here’s a classic Holiday Staple Recipe that’s versatile, loved by many, and works for Christmas, Thanksgiving, or other festive occasions:

Herb-Roasted Holiday Turkey

Why You’ll Love This

  • Juicy, tender, and flavorful
  • Golden, crispy skin
  • Infused with fresh herbs and butter
  • Perfect centerpiece for any holiday table

Ingredients

  • 1 whole turkey (10–12 lbs), thawed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh sage, chopped
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 1 lemon, halved
  • 4 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 2 cups chicken or turkey broth

Directions

Step 1: Prep the Turkey

  • Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C).
  • Remove giblets and pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
  • Loosen skin over the breast gently with your hands.

Step 2: Season

  • Mix butter with salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and chopped herbs.
  • Rub herb butter under the skin and over the entire turkey.

Step 3: Stuff & Truss

  • Stuff the cavity with onion, lemon, and garlic.
  • Tie legs together with kitchen twine and tuck wing tips under.

Step 4: Roast

  • Place turkey on a rack in a roasting pan.
  • Pour broth into the pan to keep it moist.
  • Roast 13–15 minutes per pound, basting occasionally with pan juices.

Step 5: Check & Rest

  • Turkey is done when internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) at the thickest part of the breast.
  • Remove from oven and rest for 20–30 minutes before carving.

Step 6: Serve

  • Carve and serve with gravy made from pan drippings.

Tips

  • Cover the turkey loosely with foil if it browns too quickly.
  • Use a meat thermometer for perfect doneness.
  • Save leftover turkey for sandwiches, soups, or casseroles.
