Here’s a simple, soft, and fluffy Homemade Bread recipe you can make from scratch 🍞✨


🍞 Homemade Bread

⏱ Time

  • Prep: 15 minutes
  • Rise: 1–2 hours
  • Bake: 25–30 minutes

🍽 Serves

  • 1 loaf (8–10 slices)

🧾 Ingredients

  • 3½ cups all-purpose flour or bread flour
  • 2¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1¼ cups warm water (110°F / 45°C)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Activate Yeast

  • In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast.
  • Let it sit 5–10 minutes until frothy.

2️⃣ Make Dough

  • In a large bowl, mix flour and salt.
  • Add yeast mixture and oil.
  • Mix until dough forms.

3️⃣ Knead

  • Knead on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • (Or use a stand mixer with dough hook for 5–6 minutes.)

4️⃣ First Rise

  • Place dough in a greased bowl.
  • Cover with a damp cloth or plastic wrap.
  • Let rise 1–1.5 hours until doubled in size.

5️⃣ Shape & Second Rise

  • Punch down the dough.
  • Shape into a loaf and place in a greased loaf pan.
  • Cover and let rise 30–45 minutes until doubled.

6️⃣ Bake

  • Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F).
  • Bake 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
  • Tap the bottom—it should sound hollow.

7️⃣ Cool

  • Remove from pan and cool on a wire rack before slicing.

🌟 Tips for Perfect Homemade Bread

  • Use warm water, not hot—too hot kills yeast.
  • Don’t skip kneading—helps develop gluten for soft bread.
  • For extra soft crust, brush with melted butter after baking.
  • Store in a bread box or airtight container to stay fresh.

🍞 Variations

  • Garlic Herb Bread: Add 1–2 tsp garlic powder & herbs to dough.
  • Whole Wheat Bread: Substitute 1½ cups flour with whole wheat flour.
  • Cheesy Bread: Add shredded cheese before the second rise.
