Mountain Dew Apple Dumplings

Here’s the famous Mountain Dew Apple Dumplings recipe—sweet, buttery, bubbly, and incredibly easy 🍎🥟
This old-fashioned dessert is a Southern favorite.


Mountain Dew Apple Dumplings

🧾 Ingredients (Serves 6–8)

  • 2 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work best)
  • 1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 cup Mountain Dew (regular, not diet)
  • ½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

Step 1: Prep the Apples

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Peel apples, core them, and cut each apple into 4 wedges (8 pieces total).

Step 2: Wrap the Dumplings

  1. Separate crescent dough into triangles.
  2. Place one apple wedge on the wide end of each triangle.
  3. Roll dough around the apple, sealing edges well.
  4. Arrange dumplings seam-side down in a greased baking dish.

Step 3: Make the Sauce

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter.
  2. Stir in sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla.
  3. Heat just until combined (do not boil).

Step 4: Assemble

  1. Pour butter-sugar mixture evenly over dumplings.
  2. Carefully pour Mountain Dew around the edges of the dish (not directly on top).

Step 5: Bake

  • Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, until golden brown and bubbly.

🍨 Serving Suggestions

  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream
  • Drizzle with caramel sauce
  • Perfect with whipped cream

⭐ Tips & Variations

  • Extra flavor: Add a pinch of cloves or apple pie spice.
  • Less sweet: Reduce sugar to ¾ cup.
  • Cinnamon roll twist: Sprinkle cinnamon sugar over dough before rolling.
  • No soda option: Replace Mountain Dew with apple juice or lemon-lime soda.
