Tips how to remove a tough stain from an oven door

Posted on January 2, 2026 by Danish Kaleem

Here are safe, effective methods, starting from easiest to strongest. 👇

Method 1: Baking Soda Paste (Best & Safest)

Works for most oven glass stains

You’ll need:

  • Baking soda

  • Water

  • Soft cloth or sponge

  • Plastic scraper or old credit card

Steps:

  1. Mix baking soda + a little water to make a thick paste.

  2. Spread the paste over the stained glass.

  3. Leave it for 30–60 minutes (overnight if very stubborn).

  4. Gently scrub with a damp cloth.

  5. Use a plastic scraper at a shallow angle to lift residue.

  6. Wipe clean with warm water and dry.

✨ This removes grease without scratching.

Method 2: Vinegar + Baking Soda Boost

For yellow/brown heat stains

  1. Spray white vinegar over the glass.

  2. Sprinkle baking soda on top (it will fizz).

  3. Let sit 15–20 minutes.

  4. Scrub gently and wipe clean.

Method 3: Razor Blade Scrape (Very Effective)

⚠️ Use carefully — glass only

You’ll need:

  • New razor blade or glass scraper

  • Vinegar or dish soap

Steps:

  1. Wet the glass (important to prevent scratches).

  2. Hold the blade at 45°.

  3. Gently scrape the baked-on layer.

  4. Wipe clean.

âś… This works extremely well for tough, burnt stains.

Method 4: Oven Cleaner (Last Resort)

⚠️ Use gloves & ventilation

  1. Use an oven cleaner safe for glass.

  2. Spray lightly (avoid rubber seals).

  3. Leave for 10–20 minutes only.

  4. Wipe thoroughly with damp cloths.

What NOT to Do đźš«

  • Don’t use steel wool

  • Don’t scrub dry glass

  • Don’t use harsh abrasives on seals

To Prevent It Next Time

  • Wipe spills while the oven is warm (not hot)

  • Place a baking tray on the lower rack to catch drips

  • Clean glass lightly every 1–2 weeks
