Dry Ingredients

  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1½ tsp baking powder

  • ½ cup milk

  • 1½ tsp vanilla essence

Chocolate Option (choose one)

  • Chocolate-chip vanilla: ½ cup chocolate chips

Step 1: Prep

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).

  2. Line a muffin tray with cupcake liners.


Step 2: Mix Dry Ingredients

  1. In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.

  2. Set aside.


Step 3: Mix Wet Ingredients

  1. In another bowl, beat sugar and oil/butter until well combined.

  2. Add eggs one at a time; mix well.

  3. Stir in milk and vanilla.


Step 4: Combine

  1. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients in 2 additions.

  2. Fold gently until just combined.

    • Do not overmix.


🍫 Two Easy Ways to Add Chocolate

Option A: Chocolate-Chip Vanilla Cupcakes

  1. Fold chocolate chips into the batter.

  2. Fill liners ¾ full.

Option B: Vanilla–Chocolate Swirl Cupcakes

  1. Divide batter into two bowls.

  2. Mix cocoa powder + milk into one bowl.

  3. Spoon vanilla and chocolate batter alternately into liners.

  4. Swirl gently with a toothpick.


Step 5: Bake

  1. Bake for 18–22 minutes.

  2. Insert toothpick—should come out clean.

  3. Cool on a rack.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter, softened

  • 1½ cups icing sugar

  • ¼ cup cocoa powder

Method

  3. Add milk and vanilla; beat until fluffy.
